Technical Overview

Dam Seal is an engineered rubber sealing solution used in hydraulic structures where prevention of water leakage and accommodation of structural movement are critical. These seals are installed at construction joints, expansion joints, contraction joints, movement joints, sluice gates, spillways, drainage structures and hydroelectric installations to create a durable barrier against water penetration. AB Rubber Engineering manufactures custom-made Dam Seals using selected elastomer compounds including EPDM, Neoprene and other application-specific rubber formulations. The profiles are designed to maintain sealing pressure even when subjected to compression, expansion, contraction, vibration and differential movement of concrete or steel structures. The specially engineered rubber formulation provides excellent resistance to continuous water exposure, ozone, ultraviolet radiation, atmospheric ageing and temperature fluctuations. Depending on the application, the seal can be supplied in different geometries such as flat seals, bulb seals, compression seals, waterstop profiles, corner sections and custom extruded profiles. Dam Seals are particularly suitable for dams, hydroelectric power projects, reservoirs, canals, barrage structures, irrigation systems, water treatment structures, sluice gates and other civil/hydraulic engineering projects. Profiles can be manufactured in custom lengths, widths, thicknesses, hole patterns, bulb dimensions and cross-sections according to customer drawings and project specifications. Special compounds can also be developed where enhanced chemical resistance, low-temperature flexibility, high compression recovery or extended service life is required. Dam Gate Rubber Seals (also known as P-Type Seals, Music Note Seals, or Hydraulic Waterstops) are heavy-duty elastomeric sealing profiles engineered specifically to prevent high-pressure water leakage in dam gates, barrages, canal sluices, and spillways. Designed to operate under continuous hydrostatic water pressure, these profiles create an impenetrable, watertight seal between the movable steel gate and the fixed concrete or steel frame. Manufactured by AB Rubber Engineering using high-tensile synthetic and natural rubber compounds, these seals withstand relentless exposure to water immersion, UV radiation, suspended silt abrasion, and dynamic structural movements without degrading or losing flexibility.
